Charing Cross Signing

February 17th, 2006

Thanks to Borders Charing Cross for hosting my author signing on Thursday night. I love banging on about ‘Albert’ and having an audience meant I didn’t shut up for an hour.

When I ran through the journey of manuscript to publisher to high street shelves I couldn’t believe a) that the author was actually me, b) how well it is being received by readers and c) that I actually did those things - sat on a blanket outside Hay on Wye bookshops begging for literary acclaim.

Hey a girl’s gotta start somewhere and look where it lead! Now I’m a Borders Babe on tour. Okay back to it…

Back up North

February 13th, 2006

Thanks to Borders York for hosting my author signing at the weekend. It was great to be back up north. Life on the road… I’ll be in Borders Charing Cross this Thursday at 6.30pm.

And did ya see me in the Daily Express last week? (Peter Stringfellow looked better than me). I went straight to legs bums and tums after seeing myself in print. I think the newspaper must put pounds on (like telly).

Back to taking over the world. Later x.

Swindon Signing

January 26th, 2006

Thank you Borders Swindon for hosting my author signing at the weekend, I had great fun! The pics are in my gallery.

It seems that everyone has a thirst for Albert. GWR-FM had it on after the news as their top story. And The Swindon Advertiser/Wiltshire Gazette & Herald covered it too.

Such success - a girl couldn’t wish for more support without underwiring. Even The Director of Swindon Festival of Literature came to say hello - yipes, have to live up to my reputation now and produce a cracking sequel. Almost there…

Happy New Year

January 8th, 2006

I trust you all had a good Fatmas (in for a penny in for a stone I always say). My darling husband got the call to return to Iraq on Christmas day (mid-turkey) and thus spent the afternoon trying to get a gun/crew/excuse. This meant for interesting conversations with our five year old for the rest of the holidays. But I managed to work out how to play a Gameboy Micro/transform a Shapeshifter and watched Spiderman ten times (go mums!). By the end of the festivities our TV top nativity crib had Batman parked inside and its pottery figures found less celestial roles driving JCB toys in the playroom. Kind a’ sums it all up doesn’t it.

So I am at the “hello wall” stage. The highlight of my nights is working on the sequel, having two gins and taking a hot water bottle upstairs at 10pm with a good book (oh yeah and the wheelbarrow full of chocolate). Thought I could enjoy the luxury of my own big warm bed for a while but no… Henry gets in just after midnight and Kate arrives around 3am. At 6am, Henry plays with his willy whilst reading politically correct Usborne books to his sister and Kate stands on my head.

Looking forward to having Daddy home is an understatement.

Christmas Message

December 17th, 2005

BORDERS HAVE TAKEN ALBERT NATIONALLY NOW!!!! That’s Waterstone’s AND Borders within 7 weeks of a local Swindon launch. So you see Meester Bond, my plan to take over the world is working. Hope you are all ready for Christmas - if not, I know the perfect read…

Okay, okay - I’ll get back to polishing the sequel.
