All workshops start with a warm-up word-workout. After that they are specifically tailored to compliment certain genres:
FICTION - with AWE factor!
Age 5-7
A sixty-minute interactive session revealing how our imagination can build stories.
Encourages the use of language by seeing how words paint pictures. Who will wear the Crown of Confidence to become King of the Moment and share their story? No-one picks up a pencil and everyone takes away mental tools useful in everyday life.
HORROR - with WOW factor!
Age 8-12
A ninety-minute interactive talk on how to successfully structure, write and tell tall tales. Take a journey into the mind of an author. Hear characters develop and watch them invent a world of their own before the deadline strikes and we return to reality. This session proves how self-belief leads to opportunity.
TWIST IN THE TALE - hidden talents
Age 13-17
A ninety-minute fast and funny motivational talk. Look at life through the eyes of an author. People, perception and positive procrastination shape our futures. Use the Confidence Trickster technique to manipulate all three for a better ride on planet earth.
SLICE OF LIFE
Lunch & after school club - feed your imagination.
Forty-five minutes of bite-sized activities which can be tailored to the needs of specific groups.
Do you crave inspiration? This study club offers a diet rich in ideas. Pupils are invited to journey through five intriguing sessions to discover their own unique literary talents. The fifth session offers students an opportunity to showcase their work.
COMEDY
Developing futures
One-day workshop for 6-10 people:
Teachers & TAs, lunch-time supervisors, sixth formers, motivated parents/carers etc.
Six hours of fast and furious fun! Regress, re-evaluate and respond to yourself. Held during inset days or holidays on campus. After just one day navigating their way through the Novel Energy Funky Folder, participants will have verbal and written tools along with a supply of teaching materials to help them foster self-belief in themselves and the young people they engage with.
