About Annie

Annie Waller’s debut novel ‘Married to Albert’ shot to success just weeks after its Wiltshire launch. One month later she was invited to speak on the international literary stage at the London Book Fair (which she did wearing her wedding dress and husband’s flying helmet!).

When a major tabloid newspaper featured Annie, the book enjoyed national acclaim and consequently ‘sold out’ after she appeared on stage at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon.

Annie, 38, is married and works as a full time mother to her two young children. She wrote the book whilst her pilot husband served in foreign conflicts around the world, including Afghanistan and Iraq.

Married to Albert tells the story of a secretary called Kate who likes her job, a drink and a pilot called Guy. Kate reluctantly leaves civi-street to ‘join up’ via matrimony but has a bit of trouble settling in…

“You see,” laughs Annie, “When you marry the Air Force, it’s almost as good as joining up. I got posted miles away from home and gave up my family for a bloke who was seldom around. People spoke to me in three letter abbreviations and I had no idea what they meant. My girlfriends were fascinated thinking ‘how romantic’ but the truth was far from it. I married a fairytale but lived with banter, loneliness and was only recognised through the rank of my husband. Watching the absurdity of it all, I decided to tell the world. For instance, it seemed bizarre that whenever I visited a doctor on the base, someone dressed as a tree asked me how ‘I’ was feeling!”

Reviews on www.amazon.co.uk speak for themselves and customers are demanding a sequel.

“I have almost finished the sequel,” adds Annie. “It’s called, GG – Girl Guidance and will be published next year. I plan to keep writing - I can’t stop, my dry sense of humour compels me to write… See my web www.anniewaller.com for blog observations!”

Gail Harbour, a senior figure in the publishing world says, “Annie Waller’s style of writing is hysterically funny. I laughed out loud so much that my husband banished me to the car. She has a fabulous career ahead of her.”
